As for lens cleaning...The answer is never {do it}.
Of course we all have to sometimes so lens tissue or a micofiber lens cloth (sold in camera stores for too much money) is the answer. Avoid facial tissues. As someone pointed out, it scratches. And some of it has moisturizers in it! A soft brush or blower should also be used first to blow away grit.
Finally, if you use lens cleaning fluid, never drop it directly on the lens. The correct way is to put a drop on the end of a lens tissue and thus apply it. Fluid directly on a lens can easily flow under the rim and may work its way into the camera. In any case, clean your lens as little as possible. A bit of dirty lens will not affect your pictures as dust, etc. will be out of focus. Of course when you can see it through the viewfinder you probably should have cleaned your lens before then.
