Panorama hints

normjackson (dpreview, Panasonic forum, 6 February 2004) discussing how to take photographs (with the FZ1) which can then be `stitched/attached' together...

Don't use maximum wide angle setting so as to avoid the extra post processing stage of removing the FZ1's vignetting and barrel distortion.

To help maintain consistency between frames in the session :

a. Lock white balance by doing a manual setting

b. Lock focus with focus button

c. Lock aperture by using aperture priority (or Night Portrait mode with flash down which fixes f6.5)

d. Ideally fix exposure; but can't with FZ1/2 {but you can with the FZ10!}. Best can do is take exposure from grey card (or whatever) before each shot and lock by partly pressing shutter button before take card away and shoot. Or could bracket each exposure and select later.
Panoguide -- comprehensive listing of panorama software

Panorama Factory is a commercial panoramic stitching program for the Windows operating system. It can also correct barrel distortion, it reportedly has specific settings for the FZ10.

pnmstitch is a free stitching program, available on many modern Linux distributions (such as SuSE 8.2 or newer), for those who have no money left after purchasing their FZ10! Alternatively, try Panorama Tools (Section [*]).

If you like to construct a special panoramic tripod head, look at Section [*].
