Exposure value compensation

Exposure: most of us seem to find -1/3 to -2/3 works best. I usually use -1/3 on cloudy days, 0 or -1/3 on indoor pictures and -2/3 on bright, outdoor shots.

Digital cameras being a positive medium like slides likes to be a bit under exposed. {By contrast, a colour negative for print photography is a negative medium}. You can always lighten the image in {an image manipulation program like} PhotoShop or Elements but if it is over exposed the details are usually gone and cannot be corrected.
